Growing up, I thought about lots of different careers. I come from a household of medics, but two weeks of work experience on the wards ruled out medicine. Despite studying Law, I never attempted to become a lawyer after graduating, and a stint in a champagne bar in Sydney was fun while it lasted. It turns out I like variety and challenge in equal measure, and that’s exactly what you get working at Phoenix.

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. One of the most beautiful books I have ever read, and one I don’t think I will ever be emotionally ready to read again. I’m a big fan of a traumatic generational drama (Pachinko and East of Eden are two other great ones).

Highbury these days, where you can frequently find me queueing for a coffee at the Dusty Knuckle van or having a pint at the Bank of Friendship. I grew up in Ripponden, a tiny West Yorkshire village where cows and sheep are the neighbours and your morning eggs are properly free range (they come from the farm next door)!
